The Hollow Propeller Shafts (Japanese: 中空軽量プロペラシャフト, Chūkū Keiryō Puropera Shafuto) is a series of Mini 4WD Grade-Up Parts that was introduced by Tamiya since 1991.
General info[]
The hollow propeller shafts has the shaft hollowed out to reduce the overall weight of the driveshafts. The shaft were made out of the high-strength stainless steel.
With the exception of the very first release which has the regular-shaped pinion gear attached to each ends of the propeller shaft and come with two brass pinion gears for the motor, most releases has the unique-shaped pinion gears attached to each ends and comes with two purple pinion gears for the motor. This unique pinion gears of later releases is what allows them to reduces the friction within the drivetrain.
The compatibility of the hollow propeller shafts are as follows:
- The original hollow propeller shaft was compatible with Type-2, Type-3, Type-4 and FM
- The 2.0mm set was compatible with Type-5 and Super-FM in addition for having compatibility with Type-2, Type-4 and FM.
- The 1.4mm set was compatible with Zero, Super-1, Super TZ, VS, Super TZ-X, Super-II, AR and VZ.
- The Super X set was compatible with Super X, Super XX and FM-A.
- The TR-1 set was compatible with only the TR-1.
