The Hyper-Dash Motor (Japanese: ハイパーダッシュモーター, Haipā Dasshu Mōtā) are the Mini 4WD motors released by Tamiya since its initial release in 1988. The single-shaft version has went through several revisions since then.

Only the Hyper-Dash Motor and Hyper-Dash 2 Motor are made by Mabuchi Motor, while Hyper-Dash 3 Motor and Hyper-Dash Motor PRO are made by SMC Motor.

General info

All revisions has the red endbell cap, and all but the first Hyper-Dash Motor has silver metal housing (HD1 has black housing instead).

All Hyper-Dash Motors are performs better than Rev-Tuned Motor and Light-Dash Motor on revving but has medium torque perfomance compares to the torque-based motors. Both HD3 and HD PRO (made by SMC Motor) use carbon brushes instead of metal brushes, provides longer running life.

All motors, except the original Hyper-Dash Motor, can be use in Tamiya official race tournaments. Since both HD1 and HD2 are discontinued. only HD3 and HD PRO can be use.

  • Since the revival of the Japan Cup, Tamiya would releases the special label versions of both Hyper-Dash Motor and Hyper-Dash Motor PRO on yearly basis.
