The Isuzu MU (Japanese: いすゞ ミュー, Isuzu Myū) is a Original Mini 4WD car released by Tamiya in April 18, 1995.

It was based on the 3-door variant of the 1st-generation Isuzu MU by Isuzu.

General info[]

The MU features the 3-door typical SUV body design. On the front, there's a pair of rectangular-shaped headlamps, with signal lamps sitting on outside the headlamps and on the gray bumper. On the back, there's a vertical rectangular taillamps with signal and backward lamps, as well as a spare tire prop. It also has a black bullbar with additional lamps, both of which were not presented in the real-life vehicle. It was mainly in the blue body color.

It was equipped with the white, 5-spoke Pajero wheels paired with the black RV radial tires. The chassis frame and A parts were molded in black.

About the Isuzu MU[]

Introduced in 1989, the first-generation Isuzu MU is a mid-size SUV manufactured by Isuzu. Based on Isuzu's 3rd-generation Faster pickup truck, it was available in 3-door and 5-door (as MU Wizard) configurations. The MU series was sold outside of Japan under different name by Isuzu itself and as a rebadged vehicle by other car manufacturers; In the US, it was sold by Isuzu under the Amigo (for 3-door models) and Rodeo (for 5-door models) names, while in the UK and Europe, it was sold by Opel and Vauxhall respectively under the Frontera name.

Powering the car is a series of engines developed by various manufacturers depending on the regions sold; Coming from Isuzu, there's a 2.3 liter 4ZD1 inline-4 SOHC petrol engine, a 2.4 liter 4ZE1 inline-4 SOHC petrol engine, a 2.5 liter 4JA1 inline-4 diesel engine, a 2.8 liter 4JB1-T turbocharged inline-4 diesel engine, a 3.0 liter 4JH1-T turbocharged OHV diesel engine, a 3.1 liter 4JG2 turbocharged inline-4 diesel engine and a 3.2 liter 6VD1/6VD1W V6 petrol engine. Coming from other manufacturers are a 2.4 liter C24SE inline-4 petrol engine from General Motors, a 2.4 liter C24NE inline 4 petrol engine from Opel and a 3.1 liter LG6 V6 petrol engine from General Motors. The engine is mated to either an unspecified 5-speed manual or a 4-speed 4L30-E automatic gearbox, which sends the power to either rear wheels or all four wheels through its part-time four-wheel-drive drivetrain.

Supporting the ladder frame chassis is the front double-wishbone suspensions with torsion bar springs and the rear solid axle leaf springs suspension. Braking power is provided with the ventilated discs on all four wheels.

The first-generation MU was later superseded by the second-generation models in 1998.
