Mechanical Mini 4WD

The Mechanical Mini 4WD (Japanese: リアルミニ四駆, Riaru Mini Yonku, Real Mini 4WD) series is a Mini 4WD car line-up introduced by Tamiya in July 1996. Unlike the rest of the Mini 4WD series which are part-plastic model and part-racing machines, the Mechanical Mini 4WD cars are purely plastic models with no motor or any electric parts.

Usually, the body is molded in clear plastic and requires the user to paint it. The mechanical-like chassis has front wheels which can be steered into positions, and it is electroplated.

The bodyshell of this line-up can be used with other Mini 4WD chassis when given modifications, ranging from the Vise Intruder requiring a significant modification to use only the main bodyshell, to the Diomars-Nero requiring no modification. Some have been re-released in other Mini 4WD line-up with a racing chassis such as the VS Chassis version of Diomars-Nero and Spin-Viper.

The manga and anime Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go!, as well as its sequels Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go! WGP and Bakusou Kyoudai Let's & Go! MAX, featured cars from this line-up. However in the anime, most of the cars' chassis operate like the normal chassis, as opposed to being fully mechanical in the manga. All Mini 4WD cars featured in this line-up were designed by Tetsuhiro Koshita, the manga author of the Let's & Go! series.
