Mini 4 Top (ミニ四トップ) is a manga series created by Tetsuo Tanaka and serialized on Shogakukan's Shogaku Year magazines from 1988 to 1991.
Due to being serialized on Shogaku Year magazines, several chapters are missing from the Tankobon version of the manga.
At the time the manga was still being serializes, Tamiya released two Mini 4WD cars based on the ones from the manga: The Rising Bird and the Winning Bird.
Story
The story focuses on a boy named Toppu Kudo (九堂 突風) who loves Mini 4WD. In the beginning, he meets Hayato Takamura (鷹村 隼人), the current Mini 4WD champion. Hayato then helping Toppu in order to create the ultimate racing machine to realize their dreams: Being the top of the Mini 4WD racers.
Unfortunately, they got into a fight when the standpoints of both Toppu and Hayato on Mini 4WD is completely different, with Toppu wanted to adding wings to the body while Hayato wanted to tweaks the body for top-speed. Because of this, Toppu wanted to crafting the body by himself, alone.
It was until Toppu recieved a mysterious machine from Doctor T, things starts to be different...
