The Proto-Emperor ZX (Japanese: 原始大帝ZX, Puroto Enperā Zu~īkurosu, 'ZX' pronounced as 'zeecross') is a Racing Mini 4WD car released by Tamiya on February 18, 1992. The limited edition Premium variant was released on July 15, 2017.
It was featured in the manga Dash! Yonkuro as Jin Kidouin's machine, upgraded from the Dash-X1 Proto-Emperor.
General info
Compare to its predecessor, the ZX's bodyshell has been redesigned to have the low-drag body style, with low-height body design (but that was offset by its rather large wheels). The canopy has been moved toward the front and additional front fender was added to the front bumper. Side fenders were redesigned to allow smoother airflows.
The coloring is the same as its predecessor, with purple base body with black hightlight and silver and red trims.
The original Proto-Emperor ZX was equipped with the white large-diameter 6-spoke Manta Ray-type wheels paired with the black Avante-type slick tires, while the Premium variant was equipped with the purple, large diameter 5-spoke narrow lightweight wheels with the white, hard compound arched tires.
The original Proto-Emperor has its chassis and A parts molded in gray, while the Premium variant has its chassis frame and the easy locking gear cover molded in purple and its A parts molded in white.

Following the devastating defeat at the hands of the Black Mistral that busted his Proto-Emperor, Jin has repaired and upgraded his car into the ZX. It was first used in a street race against the Black Mistral members, saving Genta's Neo Burning Sun from falling off of the cliff by pulling it using the slipstream.
It is unknown what modifications Jin has made to the minicar.
