The Savanna Leo (Japanese: サバンナ レオ, Saban'na Reo) is a Mini 4WD PRO car released by Tamiya on December 8, 2007. It was based on a winner minicar design entry of the same name by Hidemasa Komatsu in the special design contest that was held in 2007.

It was featured in the manga Mini 4WD Racer Kakeru as Short's machine.

General info

The Savanna Leo featuring the long-nose, open-wheel design that is similar to the Lotus Seven.

There's one large air-intake on the front and a pair of small air-intakes on the bonnet. The front and rear fenders were partially covers the wheels, with the headlamps and taillamps being placed onto them or the frame that holds the fenders and a pair of air-intakes on the rear fenders. There's a small cockpit with a rear spoiler placed behind it.

Standard model

The standard Savanna Leo features the yellow body color, blue cockpit, two tone brown highlights. Part of the front nose are colored in carbon highlight.

It was equipped with the gun metal, large diameter MS-type II wheels paired with the black Avante-type slick tires. It has the N-02 and T-01 units for its MS Chassis. The nose, center, tail unit and the A parts were molded in black.

Black Specials

Unique to the Savanna Leo is that it has two different Black Special versions, with Version I having the smoke bodyshell while Version II having the black bodyshell. The Version I variant has the mechanical-like decals all over the bodyshell, while Version II variant has different decals and color scheme than Version I.

Both models were equipped with the large diameter 5-spoke lightweight narrow wheels paired with arched tires, with the Version I having the gun metal wheels and dark blue tires and Version II having the silver plated wheels and white tires. The nose, tail and center units are the same as the standard model.
