The Speed Roller and Wheel Set (Japanese: スピードローラー・ホイールセット, Supīdo Rōrā Hoīru Setto) is a Mini 4WD Grade-Up Parts released by Tamiya in April 1988.
General info[]
The set comes with a pair of 9mm metal rollers and a set of special wheels.
The 9mm metal rollers, which were made in either the brass (in earlier batch) or aluminum (in later batches), has the second-to-highest frictions against the fence. The aluminum-made rollers in later batches are much lighter than the brass ones. Because they are standard solid rollers, greasing the rollers are needed.
What make the set special is the special wheels of the set. In early Mini 4WD racing scene, rear roller stays are none-existent, and during cornering, cars without the rear roller stays will have their rear tires scrapping against the fences, creating speed loss. The special wheel set prevents this by having the center protruded outward, and by doing so, preventing the rear tires from scrapping the fences during cornering.
