In the manga
In order to win against the young man (who is a construction worker worked for Tokichi's company) in a rematch, Tokichi modified the Spin-Axe's body by thinning it to the point that the bodyshell has become partially transparent to reduce the car's total weight.
Because of the reduced weight, the Spin-Axe Zero is capable of passing through the corners very fast and smooth due to the G-forces induced by hitting the guide fence being reduced. It is also capable of running fast on straight by not touching the guide fences via the slalom-like motion.
