The Thunder Shot Mk.II (Japanese: サンダーショットMk.II, Sandā Shotto Māku Tsū) is a Mini 4WD PRO car released by Tamiya in September 15, 2007. It is the successor of the original Thunder Shot Jr.
It was featured in the manga Mini 4WD Racer Kakeru as Raimu Ikazuchi's machine.
General info[]
The second generation of the Thunder Shot featuring the similarly futuristic body and curved canopy that the original has, with the differences being the lacks of absorber props and has the 2-fin rear spoiler. On most models, the kanji 'Rai (Japanese: 雷, Rai)' can be found on the bodyshell.
Most models were equipped with the N-02 nose unit and the T-01 tail unit for its MS Chassis, paired with the 16 mm lightweight plastic rollers by default.
Thunder Shot Mk.II[]
The standard Thunder Shot spots the blue body color, with red and white trims mixed into it. The canopy is orange.
It was equipped with the metalic-silver-colored large-diameter 4-spoke MS-type II wheels with the black Avante-type slick tires. The center chassis, the nose, the tail and the A parts were molded in black. The limited edition finished model cars has the N-01 nose unit instead of the N-02 nose unit. It comes with the gray rollers.
Black Special variant[]
The Black Special variant, inspired by the original Thunder Shot Jr.'s Black Special variant, features the black smoke body color with orange and silver trims on it. It has the dark red canopy.
It was equipped with the black, large-diameter 5-spoke lightweight narrow wheels paired with the red arched tires. The glass fiber-reinforced ABS center chassis frame, the A parts, nose and tail units were molded in red. It comes with the white rollers.
Clear Special variant[]
The Clear Special variant features the lightweight polycarbonate bodyshell with plastic mounting instead of the regular ABS plastic bodyshell.
It was equipped with the silver, large-diameter 5-spoke lightweight narrow wheels paired with the black arched tires. The lightweight center chassis frame, the nose, the tail and the A parts were molded in black. It comes with the black rollers. Unlike other most Mini 4WD car kits, it comes with the hollow drive shaft as standard.
Momo-i Metallic Special variant[]
This event-exclusive variant features the pink-plated bodyshell and wheels. Other than that, it is mostly the same as the base model.
Halko Momoi Special variant[]
The Halko Momoi Special features the clear pink bodyshell, with special body decal.
It was equipped with the white, large-diameter 5-spoke lightweight narrow wheels paired with the pink arched tires. The center chassis frame, the nose, the tail and the A parts were molded in pink. It comes with the gray rollers.
Pink Special variant[]
The Pink Special variant, released 2 weeks after the release of Halko Momoi Special variant, features the pink body color.
It was equipped with the white, large-diameter 5-spoke lightweight narrow wheels paired with the fluorescent pink arched tires. The center chassis frame and the A parts were molded in the white regular ABS plastic, while the nose and tail units were molded in the white glass fiber-mixed ABS plastic. It comes with the gray rollers.
Evangelion Special Edition[]
The Eva-00 Special Edition is the limited edition Tamiya made as a tie-in product for the on-going Rebuild of Evangelion anime movies. The color scheme is based on the Eva-00 from the anime movies.
It was equipped with the silver, large-diameter 5-spoke lightweight narrow wheels paired with the black arched tires. The polycarbonate-mixed ABS lightweight center chassis frame, the nose, the tail and the A parts were molded in black. It comes with the green rollers.
Red Special variant[]
The Red Special variant features the clear red bodyshell, with red and white trims on it. Unlike other models, it was equipped with the MA Chassis.
It was equipped with the black, large-diameter 5-spoke lightweight narrow wheels paired with the red, hard-compound arched tires. The chassis frame and the A parts were molded in white and black respectively.
Hiroshima Toyo Carp Collaboration Model[]
The limited, Futaba Tosho-exclusive model features the white body colors, with the body decals that were based on the Hiroshima Toyo Carp baseball team.
It was equipped with the black, large-diameter 5-spoke lightweight narrow wheels paired with the red, hard-compound arched tires. The lightweight center chassis frame was molded in black, while the A parts, nose and tail were molded in red. It comes with the black 16 mm lightweight plastic rollers.
