The Toyota GR Supra (Japanese: トヨタ GR スープラ, Toyota Ji~iaru Sūpura) is a Mini 4WD PRO car released by Tamiya on January 11, 2020.
It was based the 5th-generation J29/DB/A90 Toyota Supra sports car.
General info[]
The Supra features the 2-door, long nose, short deck body design, with near oval-shaped headlamps on the front and curved rectangle brake lamps on the back. Its bodyshell is molded in Renaissance Red.
It was equipped with the silver, small-diameter fin-type low-profile wheels paired with the black low-profile tires. The chassis and A parts were molded in black.
About the Toyota GR Supra[]
The 5th-generation Toyota Supra, co-developed by Toyota and BMW, was unveiled at 2019 North American International Auto Show. It is a sister car to the 3rd-generation G29 BMW Z4 and utilized the BMW CLAR platform. It goes on sales on 17 May 2019 in Japan and on 22 July 2019 in the US.
Powering the car is either a 2.0 Liter BMW B48B20 turbocharged inline-4 engine (capable of producing around 194 to 255Hp of power and 320 to 400N⋅m of torque) or a 3.0 Liter BMW B58B30 turbocharged inline-6 engine (capable producing 335HP of power and 495 to 500N⋅m of torque) that was mount into the front, and is mated to a ZF 8HP51 8-speed automatic gearbox which transfer the power to the rear active differential and then to the rear wheels. Models with the B48B20 engine were initally only available in Japan and certain Europe countries, but were later made available in United States in 2020. A customized variant of ZF's S6-53 6-speed manual gearbox (made using standard ZF parts and custom parts made by Toyota) was later made available since 2022, albeit limited to 3.0 Liter models.
Supporting its chassis is the front multi-joint MacPherson struts on the front and multi-link on the rear, which has the stabilizer bars attached and has the Adaptive Variable Sport (AVS) suspension system equipped. Providing the braking power is the Brembo 4-piston ventilated disc brakes with 13.7 inches rotors on the front and standard ventilated disc brakes with either 13.0 or 13.6 inches rotors on the rear. It was equipped with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires, with the 255/35ZR19 tires on the front and 275/35ZR19 tires on the rear.
