The Type-3 Chassis (Japanese: タイプ3シャーシ, Taipu Surī Shāshi) is a Mini 4WD chassis released by Tamiya in June 1989. It was first equipped with the Rising Bird.
General info
The Type-3 is the updated and improved version of the Type-1 Chassis.
Many features from the Type-2 Chassis, such as driveshaft bearing attachments (with plastic/brass bearings equipped by default), battery clip and guide rollers, are now standards for this chassis. In additions, the chassis also includes holes to dissipate heats and reduce weight. The crown gear and propeller shaft's position has been modified to minimized the power loss. Both the front bumper and the side-guards now has the additional screw holes for guide rollers.
However, since it was actually the updated version of Type-1, the chassis is still having the potential to flip over due of its high ground-clearance, which can be solved by using either the rear roller stay parts or using the low gear ratio setup.
Just like the Type-1, it has the light blue G1 crown gear attached to the front axle and the orange G2 crown gear attached to the rear axle.
The Type-3 Chassis was later modified into Truckin' Chassis.
